The name Hush Puppies and our iconic Basset Hound logo were chosen by our first sales manager, James Gaylord Muir. Originally, the advertising agency suggested naming our products “Lasers,” but Muir opted for a name that truly reflected the comfort and laid-back style that define our shoes.
Over the decades, we’ve remained committed to quality and innovation. In the 1990s, we experienced a resurgence in popularity when our shoes became fashion icons in Manhattan’s clubs and bars, embraced by designers and celebrities alike.
